David Payne is Worth a Listen
David Payne, a fourth-generation Asheville native, is active in the Hendersonville music scene with his originals and covers. Payne first picked up a guitar at the age of 12 after having watched his grandfather, a multi-instrumentalist, play what his bio describes as “mountain tunes” for hours. But Payne hasn’t been a lifelong musician – he put down his guitar for many years but picked it up once again and played a song for the love of his life who would not let him put it down again.
To listen to his music is to listen to his own take on some classic covers from Willie Nelson to Johnny Cash to David Allan Coe to Buffalo Springfield. But David also has a new single out entitled Cold Dead Hands in which he shows off his powerful voice while telling a story. It’s a great tune and deserves a listen!
Since then, Payne has been singing and playing around Hendersonville, including at Burntshirt Vineyards, Guidon Brewing Company, Dry Falls Brewery and Appalachian Ridge Artisan Hard Cider.
